With a smile makeover by Bow Family Dentistry, you will have healthier teeth – smile makeovers aren’t only esthetic. We will give your teeth not only an ideal look, but also an ideal function that can help them be more resistant to problems like infections and wear.
This can lead to saving money in the long run since you now have a mouth full of healthy and beautiful teeth that are easier to care for.
Crowns, veneers, or bridges can be done to change the position of your teeth so they are in alignment which not only improves esthetics but is also healthier periodontally!
When teeth are chipped or broken, depending on the severity of the missing tooth structure, they can often be repaired by a tooth filling that is custom-created to match and blend into your teeth so that it cannot be seen.
Dental bonding is done most often to change the shape, shade or appearance of front teeth. It uses the same esthetic material as tooth fillings, and your doctor handcrafts tooth fillings to the new specifications. An alternative to this would be Porcelain Veneers, which are done for the same purpose but made by a lab or milled in-house and bonded in after they are finished and polished.
Bleaching or whitening of your teeth can be done in-house for maximum (quickest) result or using trays overnight for a couple of weeks. Most OTC bleaching products work as well but take much longer for the same results since they aren’t as strong.
Veneers are custom-made porcelain coverings that fit over the front of your teeth and can significantly improve the appearance of your smile and the form and function of your teeth. The teeth are prepared and scanned, then custom veneers are prepared for you. You may or may not need temporaries to wear. You most likely will need an occlusal guard (also known as nightguard) to wear at night once you have veneers, to protect the porcelain and your natural teeth from fracture and wear.
Dental implants restore the mouth to optimal function stabilizing the surrounding bone, tissue, and teeth by substituting the root structure of the missing tooth. This helps to prevent further serious complications that can arise if a missing tooth is left untreated. It usually requires multiple appointments to complete a dental implant. First, the site is prepared in the bone, then the implant is placed into the bone sometimes with a special or custom healing cap. The site is then allowed to heal providing stable footing for the replacement tooth. Once healing is complete, an abutment and a crown are placed to serve as the tooth replacement. This allows the implant to preserve and protect the surrounding tissue and bone, and continue to support ideal form and function.
When you want straighter teeth and a more aligned bite to improve their smile, Clear Aligners can be an excellent treatment option. This treatment can be minimally visible while still meeting your needs. A series of custom-fitted clear plastic aligners will be fitter over the teeth. State-of-the-art technology allows your teeth to be imaged in 3D which feeds into a computer that aids in designing your aligners. Special software generates a series of progressive trays that slowly move your teeth into the correct position over time. A new tray is swapped in at regular intervals until your desired alignment is reached. Once treatment is completed, your teeth will be better aligned and your smile is improved.
Not all alignment issues can be corrected with this technology; more tooth movement may be needed that it can achieve. Consult with your doctor regarding your smile and goals.
Botox is a purified protein that blocks the transmission of specific impulses and results in muscle relaxation. It is used in dentistry to treat dental and muscle conditions. It can relieve TMJ symptoms by reducing pain and tension in the jaw and facial muscles, and it can relieve bruxism or grinding by relaxing the muscles used in grinding. It can relax and retrain muscles around a new denture to make the transition more successful. It can even enhance or shape the appearance of your smile. Your doctor will determine if you are a good candidate, then inject it into the targeted facial muscles. The results are typically seen within a week and usually last for several months.
Treatment will most likely need to be repeated to maintain the desired results. Ask your doctor today if this treatment is right for you!
