CEREC dental crowns utilize CAD/CAM technology to create high quality porcelain crowns quicky and efficiently.
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, or CEramic REConstruction. What that means is, that you can get a crown in one dental visit to our dental office! It’s amazing dental technology that can save you time and give you a healthy, beautiful smile faster than ever before!
Traditionally, getting a dental crown meant at least 2 visits to the office. One to prep and make the mold of the teeth which we would send to the lab who would fabricate the crown. Once the crown was made, then you would come back in for your 2nd visit. Meanwhile, you were wearing a plastic temporary crown this whole time, and might be again if the lab fabricated crown didn’t fit right. This was a very time consuming process with a lot of appointments.
CEREC same day porcelain crowns only take one visit. The entire process is different from our traditional crown. Here, we use our incredible technology to scan then create the crown right here at the office! The information is sent to the CEREC same day crown machine (the mill) which sculpts the crown while you wait. The entire process is precise, efficient and proven to be effective. Once the crown is finished being sculpted, glazed and polished, your tooth is prepared to be bonded with the crown. These crowns are as long lasting and durable as lab fabricated porcelain crowns, but they take so much less time! You are back to work or with your family in just a couple hours!

Traditional crowns require patients to wear a plastic temp crown for weeks while a far away lab makes the crown. These plastic temps can break and come off easily.
Dentists aren’t prepping your tooth to allow for a temp to stay on for weeks. We are now only removing what HAS to be removed and bonding to everything else. This allows us to remove far LESS tooth structure which is better overall for the tooth.

CEREC crowns are made from the same material that lab made crowns are made from. The quality, strength, and durability are equal to those made in a lab.
